Wow, I can't believe that it's been 10 days since the last blog, but I've been absalutly snowed under. Yeah right!!! Anyway, we've done a few things since the last time so this might be a bit wordy, perfect for a Monday morning at work.
Since the last time I wrote we moved to Koh Lanta by boat where we stayed at a nice (but inexpensive) hotel on the beach. I have to say that there isn't really anything bad I can say about Koh Lanta and especially the beach, it really is perfect. The whole island has something like 20 beaches and even though we were in the busiest part it was still pretty quite.
After a few days there we moved to a much quieter part of Koh Lanta called Klong Hin Bay where at times we shared the entire beach with just a handful of jelly fish washed up on the shore. This part of Koh Lanta is beautiful and is yet to be touched by all the commercialism of some of the other resorts. Saying that though, we were still only a short walk away from the local 7/11 and ATM. So we spent most of the last 10 days sunning ourselves by the pool or on the beach and playing our travel snakes and ladders!
Last Saturday we too a little trip to Koh Phi Phi. In my opinion Phi Phi (Don) is a s*** hole and I will severely beat anyone who tries to convince me otherwise! Enough said.
Now, this is the second time I've been there, so why you may ask did I make the same mistake twice? Firstly, to take Sally so she could back me up anytime someone had anything positive to say about it and secondly because we also went to a couple of other places. Our first stop was Mya Bay (where the Beach was filmed) which if you ask me is over-rated. It isn't actually that good of a beach and is always busy with tourists. The snorkeling isn't bad though (although again I think snorkeling is over-rated as well). From there we were taken by our boat to Monkey Bay which is a small beach full of Monkeys. Then came the best part - lunch on the boat. As it's the quite season here, we shared our boat (which holds a 100 people) with just 5 other people so there was lots of food for yours truly and sun bathing space on the boat. From there we stopped at Phi Phi Don (for what seemed an eternity) for around 1 hour and then headed back to Koh Lanta.
We were exhausted by our excursion so spent the next 3 days in the sun after which we hired a jeep for a day to go and explore Koh Lanta. I won't bore you with our jeep adventure too much but we did decide to go the National Park which is right at the end of Koh Lanta. To get there, we had to work our way up, down and side-ways in our jeep on a dirt road which was just wide enough for 1 car and only some amazing off-road, Indiana Jones and James Bond style driving from me stopped us from tumbling down the cliff on our right. I have to say that a park was an amazing sight (once I load pictures you can see for yourself) and I think there only a handful of people there. After, we had our little picnic we head back on the death road.
Right now we are in Krabi (we came here today) and are going to be here until Sunday when we are flying back to Bangkok.
Anyway, that's all for now.
