Today we walked to a nearby Underground station and rode down to Victoria Station, then walked to Buckingham Palace. I think every tourist in London was there! Huge, huge throngs of people everywhere you looked. We got some great views of the guards, and stumbled onto the Horse Guards as they left the area. Even with the huge crowds, we had a great time hanging around the Palace area for more than an hour. Then we walked to Trafalgar Square, and enjoyed the pigeon-free fountain area (how do they do that??). Next we walked up to Covent Garden, and enjoyed some excellent pasta at a little restaurant ($14 each for pasta and a coke). We walked around that area awhile, then caught the Underground back down to Oxford Station, and walked home. I've now walked down to the Scandinavian Kitchen, just a block from our apartment, where I can get good coffee and free wireless access. We have to get up at 5am to catch an 8:10 flight to Pisa, Italy in the morning, then find the train station and get to Riomaggiore. My next blog entry should be from Italy.
