Took a two-day trip to Phillip Island. It was a package tour. I generally don't like them but I have to admit it was a bit nice for a change. All decisions were put in someone else's hands...where to stay, where to eat, what to see. It was a relief to be herded about like cattle, being fed, being deposited practically in your bed at night. Took a train from Sydney to Melbourne. It took 12 hours and was a nice trip. The train was comfortable and the scenery was beautiful. Rolling, grassy hills with lots of Eucalyptus and other flora which I couldn't identify. Have seen some funny names for towns: Buryip, Nar Nar Goon, Wamambool, Mooroopna, Port Fairy, Diggers Rest, Junee. Spent three days wandering around Melbourne. It's a beautiful, cosmopolitan city.
