Well we arrived in Goa at around 5am very, very tired! And our brilliant plan of booking a hostel in advance turned out not to be such a clever idea since our 'know-it-all' rickshaw driver couldn't find it! We were taken to another place anyway, and as it turns out it was pretty nice! Right on the beach and a swimming pool - a luxury for our travels!
The beach was lovely, warm sea, and people frolicking all over the place. So needless to say we chilled pretty hard those first few days! The interesting thing about Goa is that while drinking in the rest of India is either frowned upon, or totally banned, in Goa it's pretty much encouraged! So, again needless to say, but we hit up quite a few cocktails too!
A couple of days later we left via tourist bus to Anjuna beach, where we found yet another nice beachside hotel. Anjuna is famed for its hippie population all of whom seem to get by solely on the weekly flee-market, which was awesome...and massive! We spend the entire of Wednesday wandering around it. If you can imagine Camden market Indian style and three-times as big!
There were also lovely places to chillout with some drinks and watch the world go by, and we found a couple of favorites and made some friends with some other travelers. So Anjuna was a bit more drinking, and a lot more chilling, besides the half day transport organisation chaos to organise our train to Mumbai.
Our last stop in Goa was the infamous hippie commune of Arambol beach. We were intrigued to see how many more hippies there could be than Anjuna, but it turns out its not the quantity of hippies, but the quality. They really do hippie the hell outta the Anjunans. We stayed in a beachside hut colony with some people who it turned out had been their for months! And it seems they each do the Arambol 'season'. Each had their own interesting story of how they got there, and why they ended up their for so long. The strangeness of that place can't really be explained on here, but I will try and fill you in verbally on return. Or better yet, just go there!
And so, with a heavy heart, we left Goa for Mumbai - whcih after chilling by beaches for so long, we were dreading. Would it be as bad as we expected? Stay tuned for the full storey!

Dad & Delphine Goa sounds awesome. Chill-out is probably just what you needed after all the frenetic travelling and sight-seeing. Hope Mumbai wasn't as bad as you feared. Nepal should be fantastic and please take loads of photos as this is where we want to go soon. Keep safe both of you. Love Dad & Delphine xx
