Today we got up early and took a tour to Paracas and the Islas Ballistas. Paracas is a sleepy little fishing village about an hour away. It is known for the small group of islands off the coast that are home to a very large marine reserve rich with birds and sea life. It's also known as a mini Galapagos or a little taste of it for those that can't dish out the thousands of dollars you need for the real thing (like us)! Who said it would be a good idea to come to Huacachina on a weekend? Apparently all of the surrounding area descends on the place for the weekend and from our hotel all we could hear all night was cars going up and down the 50 meter strip, which is the only road here, boom boxes playing all night, the disco next door and people banging on the door of the hotel to be let in late at night (or early in the morning). We took a 4 hour bus ride today to Ica. The Cruz del Sur bus lines are really nice. Very comfortable seats, movies, bathrooms, and food served. The ride was actually pretty good. We heard from Sivanne who went on this bus line too and she said her ride to Huaraz was great.
