Hi everyone
Chelle and I are having a fantastic time in Hawaii. Before we left NZ we went out to the Thai Secret Garden in Auckland with Amanda & Larry. We had a yummy Thai meal in a really beautifully decorated restaurant, so if you are ever in Auckland, check it out.
The flight over was a bit long, taking just over 8 hours. Managed to get a few drinks and movies in. My last drink on the plane was a can of NZ's own L&P. Wonder how long until I get to taste that again.
We arrived in Hawaii on Friday night local time. We went for a quick walk around to find food closeby and went to a sports bar that had a pizza restaurant. We got a small Hawaiian (we are in Hawaii after all) but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing and the garlic chicken pizza was so much better!
We didn't get up to much on Saturday. We just went for a wander through the streets of Waikiki and went down to the beach where we saw part of a hula demonstration. We weren't in a very good spot to see so will have to go back again. The weather was a bit cold so we only dipped our feet into the water. The sunset on the beach was amazing. We had subway for lunch and it is similar to NZ, but the chicken sandwiches are cheaper than the beef ones which is the opposite to NZ. They also have things called banana peppers which are yellow capsicums that have been pickled. A bit weird, but would have them again.
We were meant to go out to Pearl Harbour today but we slept a little late so ended up just wandering down to the Honolulu Zoo which was pretty cool. They had free roaming peacocks and peahens that wandered around the tables when we were eating our lunch. We took lots of photos and some of these are up on this site already so check them out and let us know what you think.
Hopefully we will get out to Pearl Harbour tomorrow but will let you know :-)
