Hey People,
I've finally arrived in New Zealand. So its a fond farewell to Oz, had an incrediable last 6 months..so many favourite places and memories..too many to count!
The last few weeks have been madness! Ive been to the quiksilver pro on the Gold Coast at the famous snapper rocks...sunshine, world champ surfers, great waves and even better handsome eye candy ;)
Byron...
Then it was off down to the one and only Byron Bay - chilled out place but not quite as special as i thought it would be. cool beach, surf lessons, getting bombarded by free internet vouchers from the travel agents :), cool night at cheeky monkey's where i bumped into one of the security guards who randomly came up to me and said - 'are you from England?' 'yes?' 'did you go to Ivybridge?' 'Yes..*looking worried.*' Turns out this smiley, friendly guy called Joe who was in the year above me (who also knew Anna Turner) and recognised me from 3 years ago...spooky but cool :) The following night i ended up with my 2 dorm pals - sophia and Hannah going from watching a good local indie band to a nightclub that served cocktails out of jam jars and stummbled home at 2am. - good times...
Coffs Harbour:
Coffs harbour - free internet, free breakfast, snooker table, central located, fridge in room, friendly staff and only $20 p/n - bargin! Cool little town - explored the beach, green island, had a awsome icecream for $4.30, watched kite surfers, went out with 2 irish girls, palying drinking games with the owner of the backpackers and other fellow travellers, pottering round local markets.
Port Macquire:
Silent disco at midnight, 2hr bike ride to a really small and cute lighthouse, watching dolphins play in the harbour, visited the free koala hosptial, refused entry on a bus with a bike - apperently its illegal (altho i beg to differ!), movie night in, 5.40am greyhound bus...
Bright lights of Sydney...
20th Birthday, birthday cake & candles, getting typsy on the free drink vouchers at darling harbour with new pal - George. eating the famous harry pie for the sake of a good pie lol. setting 5 alarms - paranoid of missing 5.30am pick up for flight to New Zealand.
All in all...ive achieved what I came out to do in oz - avoid the backpacker drunkness 24/7 and mingle with the locals, have become smitten with WA and especailly Rotto!...Oz you bloody beauty! Now its the next part of the journey...hello New Zealand!
Take care all, love chazza xxxxx
