Writing this as we are sat waiting for our replacement bus to arrive, due to the first one exploding... Not literally but there was a rather loud bang and here we are two hours later! Not the best start to our Greyhound Aus experience.
So, my first blog down under! The flight here as expected was VERY long! Left my house Monday evening around 6.30pm and landed in Brisbane at 6.20am on the Wednesday. Yikes! But I made it and with all my bags too :) I had to wait a few more hours in the airport for Danni to arrive before we had our transfer to Surfers Paradise!
We got to the hostel looking rather attractive rocking the bag on front and back look. We were moved into a different room than we booked but it was a bit cheaper so a bonus. Dropped our bags and headed straight for the beach front. It was a beautiful day and so hot! We had some lunch on the edge of the beach and then went to explore a little. We came at a perfect time as Surfers Paradise Festival was on for a few days! We grabbed some food at the supermarket and headed back to the hostel. Later we ventured back out to the seafront where lots of market stalls had been set up for the evening! It was really cute and very lively. We popped to a bar for a drink before heading back. Both shattered from the very long day (or days in my case as I hadn't really slept since Sunday evening!)
Day 2 was even nicer weather wise! Well into the 30s and not a cloud in sight. We caught a bus to Sea World where we spent most of the day! It had lots of cool shows with the marine life, I think my favourite was the comedy skit with seals and sea lions. Very entertaining. It was also a water theme park so we got very wet on some of the rides! We decided to walk back down the beach and watched the sun set which was beautiful. A very relaxing walk. We freshened up at the hostel and went out for dinner and some drinks. We found a really cool bar where they had live music and cocktails, can't really go wrong! :)
The next day, we spent at the beach. It was an Australian bank holiday so it was very busy. Had lots of people out surfing and swimming in the sea. It was a little chilly but refreshing! In the evening, there was an amazing firework show over the sea where we all watched from the beach. It was definitely the most impressive display I've ever seen with world famous companies putting it on! Back at the hostel we began to pack as we are off to Brisbane! Although, as mentioned at the start, rather delayed. I am now on the bus, thank goodness! Hopefully, we will be at the next hostel by 5 and Danni and I both agree that a well-deserved glass of wine is in order!
Till next time! :)
