Setting off this morning we had no idea where we would end up for the night. We drove along the Savannah Way and stopped to look at the Baba Didi (Jacona) campground, not very exciting and not nice. Today was a rather uneventful day and not a lot to write about. We left Mataranka in the morning and travelled to Roper Bar where we stopped and topped up on cups of tea. Then it was off to Munbililla or commonly known as Tomato Island. This was a beautiful camping ground with large open space and you could park wherever you wanted. Sunday 16th August This morning we drove the 50 odd km back out to the Kakadu Highway. We continued along for about 60km before heading into Maguk (Mar****) on the Barramundi Creek. We walked for 1km through the shady monsoon forest. The rocks we had to scramble over only went for about 200m and were much easier than yesterday. Awoke to another perfect morning in the Kakadu National Park. Our destination is the Ganamarr campsite which is located very close to the two most well known falls within the park. From one piece of paradise to the next. Arrived relatively early at the Kakadu Resort after a long 160 km drive. Picked out two lush green sites close to the amenities and the pool/bar, this is camping heaven. Pottered around, swam in the pool and generally destressed.
