We were met at the airport by Vanessa and our transfer driver. We arrived at the hotel after midnight his morning. After a fitful sleep - we still felt like we were flying - we had breakfast then headed off walking for about 3 hours. Headed to the waterfront, The Malecon, then wandered along taking photos and enjoying the sunshine. The Malecon is along the cliff top not the beach. Very unusual cliffs - very loose and gravelly- looks like conglomerate that hasn't hardened. The beach is not white sand like ours - like large river stones.
One of the attractions is the Bridge of Sighs and The Lovers Wall.
We caught a cab back the hotel to get sorted for the next day.
Later in the afternoon we set out again. We went exploring the local Artisan Markets, of which there is quite a few around near our hotel. Ron said we wouldn't buy any clothes this trip, but, who bought the first shirt . . . it look good on him though . . . Dinner was next on the agenda. We went to a local haunt (by the locals, that is) had 'meat of cow skewers with Peruvian spices' which was delicious - followed by a local drink - Pisco Sour - it sure sucked in the cheeks!
Finished the day footsore and tired, ready for another early morning.
