We got to wake up in a beautiful old room on a comfy mattress today. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant last night and it was incredible. We started with grilled vegetables with local goat cheese melted on to, and for mains I had a local specialty, braised oxtail, while Mum had lamb....also very yummy. Dessert was a very well done chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream.
Today we headed out on a hike recommended by my guide book. Sign posting, what sign posting? We never did find the right trail and the hike became more of a bushwhack/scramble, but we stumbled across some gorgeous spots in the process. We headed back to the hotel patio for lunch for some well deserved sangria and tapas, followed by an afternoon of shopping. My pack became a lot heavier as I picked up two bathroom rugs of locally woven wool - they were so soft I couldn't resist.
A light rain in the evening dropped the temperature comfortably for dinner, where we once again enjoyed a delicious meal. Duck for Mum and a roast suckling pig for myself. Plus the local wines we had both nights were perfect (I have pics of the labels in the hope that I can find them at home). One more decadent night before its back to hostals!
