Catching up again!
Last time we left off, we were traveling to Valencia. It was a very cute little town, but much smaller than I was expecting, particularly after Barcelona. Our hostal was Hostal Paris, and our host Francesca was an absolute sweetheart. Our first day was pretty much spent chilling in a beautiful Placa, having a late and long lunch of pallella. The rest of the day was spent strolling along a beautiful 'river' of green parkway running through the city (it literally did use to be a river - it flooded one to many times so they turned it into a gorgeous green space). The next day dawned blue skies from our balcony and we headed out to the market for breakfast and to buy a lunch to go. Rented bikes and took off down the parkway to see the aquarium. Had a blast and the rain held off till dinner, only getting a little wet while finding the place I wanted. The highlight? Coconut and white chocolate panacotta finished with freeze dried raspberries and pistachios.
Next morning it was off early to the airport to hit the island. One short flight later we landed in Palma de Mallorca, the capitol city of Mallorca, Very busy and touristy but the shopping is pretty spectacular. Lunch at Brisa Brasseria, a michelin starred restaurant. Great food and even better wine from the Rioja region. More gelato and an early night.
Today we headed out to Estellencs, a small town (pop 356) carved into the side of a mountain, where we're staying at the cutest B & B in an old stone farmhouse. Quiet day spent re-charging and enjoying the ocean view with a book and liters of sangria.
