After planes and trains we arrived in Madrid yesterday afternoon, just in time to hit El Rastro - Europes biggest flea market. Talk about a mass of people, it felt like Mardi Gras with less alcohol. Headed up the coast to Soller yesterday, a cute little town surrounded by mountains. Here there are numerous trailheads into the Tramuntana. The hostal is pretty cute in a great location, and dog friendly as well! We headed out on a nice hike when we arrived yesterday that wound through 2 small mountain villages surrounding Soller. Alrighty, backtracking here. May 15 We did a day trip out to Monserrat, the second most popular pilgrimage in Spain after the Camino. A gorgeous Cathedral and Picasso exhibit started off the day before heading over to our new home in the Ciutat Vella, the main center of old town. Spent the day rambling round, shopping and siesta-ing. Finally have a handle on the subway which has definitely saved some time. Finished off the day at Cinc Sentits, a Michilen starred restaraunt where we splurged over a 5 course tasting menu with paired wine...absolutely to die for.
