On our way back from Cobber Pedy to Streaky bay, we stopped off for a few nights at the very lovely but extremely windy Tumbly bay! Lots of kite surfing here, lovely walks along the beach, I even managed a peaceful cuppa at the beach side cafe while the girls rode go karts and Kev had a nanna nap!
Waking each morning over looking the ocean is most defiantly the best way to start your day!
So from Tumbly bay to Streaky bay. Leaving one peaceful bay for another. Looking forwards to the next few days here on this truly beautiful stretch of bay filled with funny amusing pelicans! We just popped up and chilled. The girls spent hours in the water kayaking. We soaked up the sun, the veiw, read books and caught up mountains on washing. I just love my twin tub and washing outside on a beach just bliss, laundry has never been so delightful.
We spent one day sight seeing as we weren't to far from the sea-lion colony. Australia's largest sea lion population with it's perfect conditions for mums and pups, these beautiful mums keep a close eye on their pups for up to 18 months, feeding them and teaching them how to hunt. Their food supply is plentiful here mainly small fish, squid and cuttlefish. The rocky area also keeps them protected from any predators especially the great whites so you can see how it's environment makes a very happy community for the natural nursery . The steep cliffs keep them nice and safe from people. We could see them easily from the look out. It was lovely to see them relaxing, sunbathing, swimming and feeding. We could hear them roaring at each other too.
Murphy's stacks was worth a little look too.
For our last night I tried a new curry recipe given to me by Ian & Diane, and there secret ingredient! I love curry but the weather turned while I was cooking it became extremely hot and balmy. I was thankful for a quick dip to cool off. We watched how the sky changed from clear blue to dark and stormy and the sticky balmy heat was blown away by gusting winds, we very quickly battened down the hatches, snuggled up in the van with our books ready for the storm to past. All of a sudden we'd sprung a leak! Quite funny really Kev got soaked and we ended up sleeping with the girls. We must in future properly level the van. Hehe...
