Tuesday, a driving day. From Ribe to Frederikshavn. About 200 miles. Connie is behaving well and giving her all for 38 mpg. We’ve discovered that diesel fuel prices change through the day, cheapest at early morning and late evening and most expensive in the commute. Supply and demand. The price varies by up to 10p per litre but is, surprisingly, always cheaper that the uk. Petrol is more expensive than the uk.
We’ve been warned that if we think Denmark’s expensive for food, wait until you get to Norway! So we’ve stocked up with gluten free bread and pasta, expensive enough in Denmark.
We stopped off at Silkborg to visit the bog bodies in the town museum. The bodies are in incredible condition having been buried in peat bogs for nearly 2000 years, stubble on his chin and internal organs in evidence. They’ve been able to identify his last meal and his hair style. Also came across an art exhibit in the street including a stripy piano, so Vanda tinkled some Ivory.
Then onto a campsite outside Frederikshavn, no extra charge for showers here so a long hot soak is order of the day.
Up early on Wednesday for the 9 hour Stena line ferry crossing to Oslo. So that’s the end of Denmark for us, Norway here we come!
