Hey, so were are in Hervey Bay now, weve been here since Monday, although we spent Tues - Thurs on Fraser Island (see pic) the worlds largest sand island. We did an adventure tour in which we were in a group and you hire out 4x4's and camping gear and you have two days to camp out and explore the island. Its a beautiful island, and has loads of natural fresh water lakes including Lake Makenzie, one of the top ten beaches in the world. It also has the only rainforest to grow out of the sand, the island is huge and is gorgeous. However, our time there was a bit of a let down as it rained non stop for the whole 3 days. In the summer you can see how it would be amazing as you can swim in the lakes and the bubbling pools. We just spent most of our time in rain coats in the truck! oh well we did get to see some stuff on the last day as we had just had enough of not being able to do anything. Camping was a bit of a test for me (Sam) never was a nature girl, made Craig check the tent everynight for bugs before i entered. And the bloody tent leaked water. Had never been so happy to see a dingy hostel in my life when we got back.
Before this we had a stop over night at a cattle station in the outback. Very random. You could tell the people who lived there didn't often see any other civilisation, proper imbreds! The night was spent round the camp fire and playing strange games. Craig went on the Mechanical bull, and lasted for 7 seconds (not bad) resulting in brused balls, it wasn't my cup of tea. The funniest part of this place was that we got to participate in a goat rodeo, chasing and catching them in a small pen. Craig also did clay pigeon shooting which he then talked about for days - think he might take it up when he gets home.
Before this we were in Airlie Beach which is where we left for a sailing trip on The Whitsundays. It was awesome. Our boat was a bit of a party boat, but it had a good group of people and we had a right laugh. The first day we both felt really sea sick and was thinking we were going to hate it. The second day we got off the boat to spend the morning on White Haven beach. The most beautiful beach I have ever seen, completely white sand and clear blue sea. In the afternoon we went snorkling over the shallow reef. In was really nice in the evening drinking on the deck under the stars out in the sea. See the photos for the crazy antics that took place that night!
Check out the new photos and videos.
We are off to Brisbane tomorrow for a few days and then continuing down the coast.
