Hey so sorry we havn't wrote a blog in ages we have been very busy travelling over the last week. So left Bangkok on the 16th seemed strange that Thailand was coming to an end it was like half of our trip was over already. We left early in the morning and arrived in Singapore mid afternoon. Singapore is a complete opposite. firstly the whole airport seems to be first class and that really sums up the country. We got on the tube from the airport(a vast improvement on the London tube) with our massive bags and went to this area called Little India which is where some of the cheap hostels are. We stayed at this place called The Inn Crowd and did our first dorm rooms. ahh! to be perfectly honest beside the fact that they are all bunk beds, the whole place is generally clean and new. The people were friendly and we could def see the benefits of staying in hostels as they are basically geared towards backpackers and offer so much helpfull advice on everything from the area, tours, sights, clubs n everything else. We met these two brit lads that night staying in our place and went ou with them on a bender. One big let down of Singapore in the age restriction on most clubs of 21/ or sometimes 23 which just kinda illustrates the strictness of this country as they obviously dont want they're youth drinking. Anyway we ended up in this cool club called Zouk, 4 of us Brits showing the Singapore kids up on the dancefloor as they just dont dance! I think the cool thing here is to dress up real smart and sit around drinking real expensive drinks ( could not afford more than one night out - drinking in this city is rediculously expensive!) looking sophisticated. Funny night, Joss and Jo actually argued far more than us or any couple! We went to Orchard rd which is a the Bond St of London and i (Sam) got very unhappy at the fact that we now look like ragged travellers and i have little money to go splurging on shopping (oh how i miss shopping so much!) Whilst Craig can happily afford to do it and rubs it in my face! Mum please win the lottery and wire me some money! So in an attempt to rejoin civilised people we splashed on 1(!) drink at Raffles Hotel that night. and of course it had to be two 'Singapore Slings please' bloody lovely! Despite its reputation we really didn't think that much of it, people wore jeans and caps whilst i was threating over not having a nice dress to wear! anyway we left Singapore with some impressive photos of the posh city three days later.
We arrived in Brisbane on the 19 after a 7 hour flight. We stayed at tis really rugged hostel in Moreton Bay. The area was lovely really peacefull and pretty. we felt absolutely shattered but went and had a look around and got some food. The bar of the hostel had to be the most popular place in town and they had a local band there playing the usual indie band copies. Actually really good but we couldn't keep our eyes open and had to get up real early to catch a flight to Cairns. We went to sleepies early, however was rudely awakend by the most annoying dorm mates ever come crashing in at the early hours shouting and laughing - not impressed! and to top in all they were up at about 7 making more noise! ahh!
Any way we arrived in Cairns yesterday and our hostel is acually really nice, cool beach theme and little pool. we even opted for our own private double for a few dollars extra so Craig could have a huggies - such a child! lol. So today we came in Cairns town to have a nose about. There is the most amasing swimming lagoon with an artificial beach right on the front esplanade on the coast. Gorgeous! we relaxed here for a few hours and Craig did some more shopping ahh! fair enough he needed some new flip flops( thongs!) his old ones were intoxicating! We are going to organise some dive trips on the Great barrier reef and a sailing trip on the Whitsunday islands and to Fraser Island over the next few days. I can see we are gonna spend a bit too much money here. We are leaving Cairns on Fri and jumping on the Oz Experience bus heading down to Mission Beach. We are really excited as we found this campervan company that will hire to under 21's so were going to do that in NZ -talk about a road trip! kk so will add photos from Phuket up until now in the next few days x x x Â
