Hi everyone!!
Okay, so again, we appologise because it has been forever since we have updated! We are out of Italy, and now safe in Barcelona,Spain, our final destination (at least mine, Suz still has a lot to see and visit!). Italy was incredible, and I wish I could talk about it forever, but like always we only have a very short amount of time to write. Venice was beautiful; Exactly how we both pictured Italy. There are mostly no cars, just boats, and everyone just gets around through the canals. People are super friendly, and we were treated like princesses. Rome was a little disapointing. We had a horrible time finding our flat, which was in the middle of china town. We thought maybe the rest of the city would get better, but it was mostly dirty, and busy. We learned that Italians are either extremely nice or extremely rude. The monuments were very cool though, we saw all the big monuments, and also went to the vatican city. We were both so excited about the vatican, and we stood in awe of Michelangelo's masterpiece, but we were shocked at how disrespectful and rude tourists were. The best part about Rome was hanging out with our canyoning friends from Interlaken, who were also in Rome at the same time. of course, they made things exciting and much more fun!
After Rome we travelled to 5 small coastal villages called Cinque Terre in northern Italy. We fell in love with everything about Cinque Terre. We stayed in the town called Monterosso. The landscape is breathtaking and the people were incredible. Behind our nice appartment were tall green mountains and in front of it was the sea (the Lagorian sea, to be specific). The water was deep blue and the coast was rocky and beautiful. We enjoyed the beach, the food, and the beauty all around us. It was nice after fast-paced Rome to take a deep breath and relax.
From Cinque Terre we travelled to Nice, France. We had only planned to stay for one night on our way to Spain but our friendly roomates at the hostel convinced us to book an extra two nights and it was well worth it. We made some more friends in Nice with whom we beached and ate heartily. One of our roomies was Greek and she made us a traditional greek meal that was splendid! The rocky beaches and marble water (dark blue and light aqua) were also gorgeous.
We are now in Barcelona and loving it. Its bittersweet since our trip ends here but we love the city. The people are quite friendly so far and the city has a lot to offer. By sheer luck, we ended up with an incredible apartment in the center of everything and we are loving it. Susannah is excited to finally get to practice some spanish too! I guess this might be our last blog but we will be adding pictures very very soon. Suze will probably continue to blog as her adventure continues, so keep checking. We love and miss you tons!
