Dear All

I am currently staying on an Alpaca Stud Farm on the edge of the Blue Mountains. This is my first experience using the organisation I told a few of you about WWOOF (willing workers on organic farms) and so far it has been very enjoyable. We had 2 births yesterday and I helped to deliver a rather large baby alpaca today, the mother was having trouble due to its size. The farm is actually taking part in an embryo transfer programme to improve the quality of their stock so the mothers are in fact mostly surrogate. It is still wonderful to see the bond between the mother and baby that forms almost immediately though. Pictures are on the way so for any of you that are squeemish don't look! I am leaving the farm on Friday and will be going into the Blue Mountains for a few days walking, possibly horse riding and avoiding bush fires!
