So finally we arrived in Quito pretty tired, and headed straight for hostel Bask, Very nice and five quid a night for a private on-suite room. We´ve done a bit of exploring so far, visiting the old town and some very old churches. The biggest thing here seems to be shoe shining, tonnes of little boys roam the streets with black hands and shoe polish at the ready, along come Dan and I, nike trainers an´ all and they enthusiastically ask us "shoe shine senor, senorita?" we both kinda look down at our plastic, suede, battered trainers, cast an eye back at their leather upper polish and say "que?".....I just reply "no gracias" as best as i can manage in my fake spainish accent whilst Dan goes off on one about how they are plastic and there´s no way black leather polish would impove let alone shine his nike airs! These little lads look confused and flustered while Dan continues "no, plastico trainers, nike" and after a while they leave us alone again, its quite amusing! Visited El Panecillo the Quito Virgin, We went up to see her, cracking view of the entire city

Today is a public holiday, All Souls Day or Day of the Dead...lovely, so the resturants are bustling selling the dish of the day: ´Old el Pollo with chips´ and most shops are shut, so we´re chilling today, catching up on email and sleep! Tomorrow we are going to get a 2 hour bus ride to a small market town called Otovalo, its north of Quito and somewhat of a famour town due to the huge market on Saturdays, so i´m looking forward to some shopping Ecuador style!
