Mendoza was difficult to leave, the city is clean, cheap, interesting and we both could have easily spent a month there trying all the restaurants, the adventure sports and of course the winery's. Until 2001 Argentina had an exchange rate of 1 peso to 1 US dollar, after ´something´ happened their economy collapsed and now you get 3 pesos to 1 US dollar. So overnight everything became 1 third of its price!, for tourists that is. You can enjoy all the trappings of a European city, good hotels, food and activities all on a backpackers budget! Bring it on.

This week we brought a some property in Argentina. It has four walls, joined at the top, with a floor and its double thickness. Can you guess? Thats right, its the middle of summer so we thought we would save some dough and buy a tent to live in for the next 4 weeks. Spent two days sleeping in a pine Forrest park in Mendoza which was lovely. When we came to leave and pack up the tent, the first law of camping was exercised, that is: It must rain heavily just as you want to pack up the bloody thing up!

We left for an overnight bus trip to Neuquin to see the dinosaur bones which left us gawking in awe at the giant size. And now its off to San Martin de los Andes to try and hire a banger for the week so we can explore some the famous seven lakes route.
