Finally...the beach!! Nick has been desperate to get his swimming shorts on since we arrived in India...so we were very excited to finally be at the seaside. We flew down from Delhi with Kingfisher - a very swish airline and we liked them because they gave us free stuff!! Excellent, another pen for the collection...

After quite a long day involving 2 flights equivalent to flying to Cyprus from home, 2 taxis to and from airports and a very rushed connection in Bangalore (we landed as our next flight started boarding!)...we arrived in Kovalam and at our home for the next few nights, a very nice small hotel run by a very friendly English couple.

A two minute walk from the hotel and we were on the beach, and the sun may have already been setting in the sky but man was it hot!! The north had been hot in the sun but cool out of it, in fact we both got a lot more wear out of our fleeces than we expected (thanks respective sisters!!) but here...wow!! It is soooo hot, and it doesn't cool down much on a night either...it is lovely!

It's quite a popular resort with holiday makers (although I have NEVER met anyone who went to India for their annual 2 weeks in the sun) and as we are on the coast there are loads of restaurants serving fresh fish and seafood...all in all a nice place, apart from the leather looking speedo wearing old men of which we have seen a couple...gross.

So today has been a tough day on the beach and playing in the sea, which is amazingly warm, it is just gorgeous really!! Suffice to say we are loving it at the moment and having a great time, we are definitely relaxing after 2 hectic weeks of sightseeing.

Will report back soon, although I think there may be less to say for the next few days except 'laid on beach, worked on tan'!! The iron gates are actually the entry to the President's house in Delhi...of course, and yes, we were thrilled to catch them on camera!!
