So...firstly I think we have some explaining to do! We uploaded a grand total of 3 photos onto the blog and pretty random ones...the reason behind this is that due to high camera quality and RUBBISH computer quality we spent an hour attempting to upload anything at all! So, we are pursuing alternative means to get photos to everyone!
Right...on to business... arriving in Agra we were delighted to be placed adjacent to Pizza Hut!! Literally right nest door to our hotel! We decided that for research purposes and whatnot, we should go there...just to make sure it was like we know and love in England!! Although a trifle expensive, it was gooooood!
Next morning, we were up for sunrise at the Taj Mahal!! Fantastic, except for the VERY long queues and by the time we actually got to the Taj, the sun was pretty much up. No worries though, it was magnificent none-the-less. We spent a good couple of hours meandering through the gardens, taking pictures and going inside, we could easily have spent longer there, but breakfast was calling!
The rest of Agra was time filling, we went to 'the baby taj' - does exactly what it says on the tin! Then this morning we returned to Delhi and said our sad goodbyes to our beloved Ambassador car (and obviously the driver...whatshisname!) Seriously though, both had served us well and we were a little sad to see them go.
Our previous experience of Delhi had clearly been a bad one, and I'm glad we got a better crack at it. The centre, Connaught Place is a metropolis of shops, businesses and...Maccy Ds!!!! Needless to say...for research purposes...we welcomed the golden arches with open arms!! I had a Maharaja Mac in the absence of beef, a Big Mac just doesn't exist, but my burger was tasty and delicious!
We followed on into the central park, where upon sitting down we were mobbed by teenage indian boys keen to show off their English and find out more about us! They were good fun, sadly, we were a little alarmed as there were SO many of them and it takes very little experience of Indians to tell you that most of them want your money for something. These were absolutely genuine though and very friendly, I think they headed off for a class, and we took our queue to head back to our hotel.
I'm glad we returned to Delhi, as I say we were less than impressed on our first visit, but a different angle showed the city in a far better light and I think we both feel that if we had to return, it would be less daunting (we did at least manage a night time wander to a restaurant and back without so much as a mugging!)
Next stop, Kerala - the BEACH!!!!
