We arrived in Singapore late and made our way to Hang-out hotel, checked in and met a girl from our dorm called Ashleigh.. she is from Stevenage and works at Nandos.. (Get In - good networking girls!)...she is really lovely and has just spent 3 weeks in asia and this is her last stop before heading to OZ..
Got up early the next day for Breakfast (poshest hostel bfast ever!) as there was actually a choice! ...the day was spent sorting out post, going to apply for our Vietnamese visa and having a look around the main shopping area 'orchard road'.. That evening we went to the NIght Safari with Ashleigh. We saw dancers who were determined to get us up dancing but we were having none of it and ran into a shop.. bad effort we know but it was boiling hot and they were only donning loin cloths.! we had a curry and watched the 'creatures of the night show'.. it was ok..it may have been better if the host wasnt so annoying and spoke to children like they were stupid.. (which obviously rubbed us up the wrong way!)..but we had a laugh! We then went on the safari tram which was fab! it takes you around different asian settings and you get to see the animals whilst sitting a staff member explains their habitat etc...You stop half way through the tram to take walking trails where you can get up close with the aniamls.. the 3 of us had so much fun we saw porcupines having a fight or trying to mate (stil havent finished that debate yet), Lions, tigers, leopards, otters and loads more.. There is also a bat enclosure which you can walk through.. Ashleigh went straight in while we said we would wait for her.. then we decided to be brave...clinging onto eachothers arms and ducking quite low we walked all the way through seeing the biggest bats ever! and some were flying around our heads... another experience you only need to do once really! As we werent able to take pictures of the animals due to the flash hurting their eyes or scaring them we decided to make our own fun on the way out imitating the surroundings... come on its very us isnt it!!!
The next day we went to collect our visas from the embassy and spent way too long deciding what we wanted to do and how we were going to make our way to Bangkok in 10 days time.. we finally booked the train to Kuala Lumpur for Friday and decided to look into flying to Koh Samui.. It was Ashleighs last night in asia so we grabbed some drinks.. small choice in '7 eleven' and guess what we found.. Hooch! would you believe it! that brought back memories.. we took them and sat on the roof of our hotel chatting...The next day we posted a huge box each both weighing in at around 10k's each home.. so we didnt have to carry so much in asia..we then met up with Ashleigh to have late lunch at Clarke Quay. That evening we got ready to go out as we had heard about this bar called the clinic where you sit in wheelchairs and drink through a drip..! we are up for anything quirky and unique.. on our way out of the hotel the receptionist gave us 2 free tickets to ministry of sound! RESULT!!!.. so off we went.. we had so much fun but were aware of our long train ride to KL the next day...
On our final day in Singapore we went to explore Sentosa.. its like a park with lots of different activities and lookouts etc.. we went luging (like little go-karts which are only operated by pulling and pushing handlebars), wrote on the wish tree, saw the merlion and took the chairlift.. we had to get back to the city so it was fab that we could ride on the cable car back.!
we left that afternoon at 3.30pm and arrived in KL at 2am the next morning.. hmmm 6 hr train ride does the ticket say.. work that one out..teehee
