After our surf trip we spent the weekend in Byron Bay, then moved north to Noosa. There we were able to meet up with our friend Jaron and his girlfriend on our first day. On our second day we went on a walk through the National Park and searched for Koala's. Unfortunately we didn't see any, but we did enjoy some spectacular views.
Christmas was really just another day for us. It really doesn't feel like the holiday season, it's far too hot. As I keep saying "it just doesn't smell right", none of the Aussies seem to understand this statement. We did however try to make the best of it and we were together so it wasn't too bad.
On the 23rd-25th we went to Fraser Island. It's a giant sand island with lots on interesting things to do and see. Everyday we went swimming in a different lake, as you don't want to swim in the ocean. It's full of sharks, jelly fish and stingrays. On Christmas Eve we had a cold christmas dinner of ham, chicken, and salad. The island is quite a sight and is very unique. It's a great place to explore.
On Christmas day we came off the island to Rainbow Beach. The hostel had a great atmosphere to it and we were drinking and chatting the night away in no time.
On Boxing day we made our way to the local beach for a swim. The waves were far too big for our surfing skills, but swimming in them was a blast. That evening we went on a walk to the sandblow. This place was unlike anything we've seen before. As you dig in the sand a whole bunch on different colours appear, and it's constantly changing. Apparently there are anywhere between 42 and 75 different colours.
In Agnes Water we have been hit by rain. It is a very very quiet town. Town of 1770 only has a population on 80 people. We've spent our time chilling out and down at the beach. Tonight we board an overnight bus north to Airlie Beach for our New Years Sailing trip on the Whitsundays...
