We have made it down to Van Viang in Laos. It has been quite a beautiful trip south. We crossed the border from Thailand into Laos at Chiang Kong and hopped on a slow boat south. We have been in Chiang Mai for the past few days. We went on a Hill Tribe Trek, which was really more of a hike. It was a good time though. Apart from a few short walks through some pretty dense jungle we had the opportunity to shower under a waterfall, boil eggs in some hot springs, ride on elephants and go bamboo rafting. We've had a brainwave. We are going to cut the trip short and spend the rest of our budget on useless gadgets here in Singapore. I'm sure that knowing us that is quite believable. It is a good thing that our trip here is a short one, can't afford to stay longer. The food and shopping are definitely highlights, plus it's basically all we've had time to see and do. Hoping to come back one day when we win the lottery, but until then, we are off to Thailand....
