We made our way down the coast of beautiful Vietnam. It is a beautiful country with great beaches, scenery and food but it's one downfall is it's very enthusiastic customer service. With calls of "you buy something" and people touching, poking and grabbing you to look at their stalls. Not only is it when shopping but when looking at menus as well, no sense of personal space as you flip through the pages. We have taken to eating on the street with the locals. Food is cheaper, get more for your money and it tastes better. Plus you get a more real experience.
After Hue we went to Hoi An. It is a dangerous place with 100's of tailor shops ready to make you whatever your heart may desire. We were lucky and avoided the temptation. We visited My Son. An ancient holy ground full of temples in the middle of the jungle.
We got a sleeper bus to Mui Ne. Del had some trouble considering the size of the beds were made for Vietnamese not Westerners.
Mui Ne was the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation. One street lined with guest houses and resorts (we stayed at the former) all along a strip of beach. We again had to remain strong and not pay out the cash to learn how to kite board, but did enjoy watching it. We visited sand dunes, a red canyon, walked up a stream and rented bikes. The bike rental was the best idea we had, we were able to ride the entire strip, which is a very very long strip. All in all a successful stop.
HCMC brought back all the sounds of the city, especially the horn. We did our own walking tour yesterday to see the sites. Today we visited the Cu Chi Tunnels. these tunnels were used by VC soldiers to evade and attack the Americans. This was a very interesting experience. We even got to crawl through one tunnel.
Tomorrow we make our way to the Mekong Delta...
