The Dithering Travel Diary
The White Nights in St. Petersburg, Russia typically starts in mid May and by the middle of June is in full force. What does this mean, basically once spring is in full force in this northern climate, the sun hardly sets. The photo with this blog was taken at 10:30 at night on Victory Day (more about Victory Day later this week) and that's why you will notice fire works in the sky. Thank goodness it is a cloudy evening, otherwise we were wondering how the fireworks would show up. A highlight of white nights is to walk to the Neva River at midnight and watch the draw bridge go up to let boats through. Although I'm not staying up until midnight, it would be fun to see this happen in the middle of the night with a still light sky.
