Our first night in Moscow, a brief nap after our Czech restaurant experience, and we are off to see Moscow by night. This is a late excursion that starts at 9:30 and ended around 1AM.
We started by seeing a high rise building built with money from Arm and Hammer and then we were going to walk along a pedestrian walkway above the road, however it was locked so we took an alternative route through a restaurant, but they didn't like that (it was a real fancy restaurant) so turn around and blindly follow the guide as we made our way to the bus. We saw war memorials, statues, among a grassy knoll (or was it a bricked area? It was dark and open to interpretation) was a large red clock in lights, the seven Lenin Sisters, and the tour ended with a grand finale, Basil's Cathedral at Red Square. Unbelievably beautiful does not justly describe this cathedral at night.
One thing we noticed was that there were masses of people (young, old, and children) out on Red Square at midnight. We found out that one day each year all of the Moscow museums are open all night and this was the night. We also heard that at 1PM there was a concert on Red Square. It was a busy place.
