Paul's Adventures
Well I started my traveling life on Tuesday 2nd i flew from heathrow to Hong Kong then straight onto Saigon(Ho Chi Minh City). i grabbed a taxi into the center the journey in was an eye opener i have never seen so many mopeds LOL they do not have any sort of traffic control its one big free for all.
Anyway i booked myself into the DE Luna it was ok expensive at $20 but it was only for the night.
Once i had got myself sorted i want to the nearest Internet cafe where i got talking to this Dutch girl she said i was more than welcome to join there group so i hooked up with 2 Irish girls 2 German Lads and 2 more Dutch lads..
It was good because they made me feel welcome and i felt more at ease so we had some food and went for a beer we sat outside with the locals drinking what i can only describe as Nat's piss served in a litre jug but for 30p what do you expect.
The next day i woke up late as i was shattered but i just had a walk around to check things out, I found a room for $5 much better bargain LOL.. Once i got sorted i booked myself a trip for the next day this would take me to the cu chi tunnels, these are tunnels left over from the war and it was how the Vietcong moved around undetected by the Americans.
I jumped on a taxi moped so for an hour he took me round the city for $5 I bought some shorts and i also bought a new Canon camera which is cool.
A bit later i met up with the guys again and played pool and had a walk around the bars we had quite a late one,But the guys where a brilliant laugh we all got on really well.
In the morning we had a early start so a bit worse for where we all boarded the bus and headed out it was only 30k away but it took ages due to the shear volume of traffic..
We finally arrived our tour guide took us around we saw how the people lived and fought we actually went inside one of the tunnels i had to crawl on my hands and knees it was very claustrophobic and warm but we got through ok.
We also visited the war museum it was quite harrowing really showed a lot of death and destruction but i guess that's what happens in war.
We got back freshened up and booked ourselves onto the 3 day Mekong River tour this would take us right up to the Cambodian border where i would say goodbye to the guys as that was there next stop.
Once that was booked we started again on the local Piss water LOL and went to our favorite pool bar where we just chilled and chatted.
We had a nice and early start in the morning we boarded the bus the journey took just over 4 hours so you can imagine we was a little tired but we finally arrived at Mytho city where we caught the boat to some small islands on the Mekong river to see scenic villages we saw various craft shops etc.
We then hoped into rowing boats and boated up small canals of the main river again we saw various sights but at least the weather was fantastic.
After that we was taken to our hotel we freshened up went out for dinner and drinks we had to be up and out by half six in the morning,
We was all tired but we managed to get up and do it all again.... we had a boat trip up the river again to see the floating markets here the locals trade different foods etc.
We again visited different things like a rice noodle factory and we then continued by boat to Phong Dien Floating market.
After lunch we visited a crocodile farm they farm them for wallets, belts ETC
We then Then went to Chau Doc town and took a hike up SAM mountain to visit the Temple of Queen Lady me and Pete was the only guys to walk all the way to the top of this little mountain the rest of the guys just chilled at the temple.
We got to our hotel freshened up then had dinner this was my last night with the guys so we celebrated in style we sat drinking and chatting till the early hours....
In the morning we said our good byes and i had a nice 6 hour journey back to Saigon.
The next day i left for Delat.... See the next entry for that story....
