After traveling from Santa Cruz to La Paz overnight i had to wait for the connecting bus to Lima Peru, i approached the bus company but they seemed very confused by my ticket fortunately for me i had met a Brazilian lad on the bus and he could speak good English so he explained my situation to the police it seems i was sold a bogus ticket i paid 120 usd for it so as you can guess i was very pissed of but my faith was restored when they arranged for me to go with another company at no extra cost so in the end i was out of pocket by 30 usd.
So i hopped on the bus and settled in to my 28 hr journey, the bus was cool very spacey and comfortable which helped. I finally arrived in Lima around tea time so i headed to Miraflores and stayed the night there.
The next morning i headed to gold´s gym which i had seen the night before it was nice to do some training again, after i headed to Ica its about 5 hours south of Lima so i headed to the bus station and jumped on the bus, once i arrived i grabbed a motorized taxi and headed just outside the town to Huacachina which is 5 kms from Ica.
Huacachina is a cool little oasis town set in the backdrop of towering sand dunes and has a cool lagoon set in the heart of it. Here you can Sand board and Dune-buggy.
I found Ultan my Irish buddy lazing by the pool in his hostel he was with Eve the Aussie girl we traveled with in Bolivia, We chilled out that day and then headed out for dinner in the evening we went to a pretty cool bar / restaurant we got pretty hammered in there we met some other travelers and 2 lovely Peruvian girls so we just stayed drinking with them.
The next morning after breakfast myself and Ultan Grabbed the bus to Lima i was only really coming to Peru to get to Colombia, so i talked ultan into coming with me.
We stayed one night in Lima before getting the overnight bus to Mancora a surfing town on the Peru / Ecuador border the journey was ok we arrived first thing we found some accommodation right on the beach front.
We basically chilled that day in the sea and on the beach the water and beach were awsome, That evening we had a roam around the bars the high street is right on the Pan American highway so all major traffic comes through here.
We had a few beers that evening but we was pretty shattered from the journey so we headed back.
The following morning we moved to the H-i Hostel just across the road it was better as we had cooking facility's We decided to hire motorbikes for the afternoon and visit the hot springs, i have never ridden before so it took me a while to get the hang of things but we were soon tearing up the road toward´s the springs we had to head out of town hit a right turn then head of road for around 15km till we reached the springs, it was a riot we was racing each other Ultan had the upper hand as hes really good on a bike.
We finally arrived and lets put it this way the hot springs are about the size of a bath tub so when we jumped in it was very cozy good job no one else was around LOL.
We headed back to town after lasing in the springs for a while, we handed the bikes back and went sunbathing on the beach till sunset.
That evening we cooked then headed to one if the local bars to play Texas holdem it was a cool evening i made the final table but lost and Ultan fair play came second he lost it all on the last hand. The bars were getting busier and busier with travelers and locals till it calumniated in a massive street party people were playing music, fire jugglers and people dancing in the street it was spectacular, people were jumping on the buses coming through and the Lorry's it went on till 5am were it finally moved to the beach.
We chilled in Mancora for another few days its such a cool place i would have stayed but i needed to be in Colombia to do my Padi course.
So we decided we would go straight through Ecuador this would mean traveling for 3 days on buses to reach Colombia so of we set.
