Paul's Adventures
Hello again....
We packed up our kit ready to check out and head down to Wanaka the drive would take around 3 hours so we decided we would stop of at Fox glacier on the way and have a look at this one as well...
The Glacier was very similar to Frans Joseph but its a little harder to access it, after taking the usually photos we hit the road again.
The drive was cool we headed down the west coast till we arrived at Wanaka we had to find a hostel but due to the popularity of this place we had to try 3 or 4 different places eventually we found one called the purple cow.
We dumped our stuff in and headed to the town for a browse around.
we got dinner sorted then headed out for a few beers.
We all decided that we would go Skiing the next day i was a little worried as this was my first time but Paul & Caz had been loads of time so Paul said he would show me the Basics.
We got up nice and early and headed to the ski hire shop we got all our kit sorted and of we went the ski resort was about an half hour drive away the ski resort we decided to use was Cardona.
We arrived and the place was already busy with skiers and borders, we bought our day pass and of we went to the beginner's slope, Paul showed me how to Snow Plough and turn ETC..
We then got on the ski lift this was funny my ski got caught and i ended up flat on my back being drag along by the chair...
I managed to sort myself out and i eventually got to the top Paul showed me the basics so i followed him down i got more confident as i did it a few times, So next was to get the big ski lifts up to the top i went on the Beginners slope (green) i was really enjoying it i did fall few times but i felt really confident.
Paul and Caz went of to the harder slopes so i just cracked on on my own, they did pop back from time to time just make sure i hadn't broken anything LOL..
I Had a fantastic day i even managed to do the intermediate slope but to be honest i did s*** myself just a little and managed to wipe out a couple of times, but as the slopes where just about to close i thought i would give it the big one and go for it so i headed to the top of the mountain and set of i was flying i managed to to reach some speed and even managed to stay on my feet.
I have to admit this was one of the best days i have had it was such a buzz i wish i could have done it for longer.
It was time to head back to the hostel so we took our kit back and headed to the showers once we was back.
Later that evening we headed out and caught up with Nick & Linear and some other people we had met so we had a great evening just chilling and chatting and drinking.
Next stop Queenstown
