Well Christmas came and went next we had the new year to look forward to Brian had bought tickets to see Paul Van Dyke life so that was well worth waiting for.
Between Christmas and new-year was spent drinking large quantities of alcohol and shopping and chilling that's it really nothing to exciting but hey it was Christmas a time to eat to much and drink to much.
So New Years Eve was finally here so we got our glad rags on and set of for a evening of dance and fun, we grabbed a taxi to the event but when we arrived there was no one there for a minute we thought we had been shafted but we were informed by the police the event did not actually start till 1 in the morning, so we decided to head to a bar and get some champers in to celebrate the new year so at the stroke of midnight we all toasted in the new year and made our wishes for 2008 mine is to come back travelling ASAP.
So around 1 we headed back to the venue it was being held outside and as you got closer you could her the music pumping it was awesome thousands of people dancing there t*** of and we would soon be joining them Paul Van Dyke was fantastic his music was kicking I think it ended around 8 in the morning so we made our way home drunk tired but happy. As you could imagine we spent the rest of the day in bed.
We had a couple of days left in the apartment so we spent our time just chilling and having a laugh, but we decided it was time to leave BA so we headed up to Saltaso we got an overnight bus and of we set.
We arrived around 9 in the morning and headed to our hostel, the hostel was ok nice rooms and an ok pool, the weather was lovely so some time would be spent hanging around the pool.
We chilled in the day and popped around town to see what was about had coffee etc we came back later and chilled by the pool we met up with a group of Irish lads it would turn out that we would have some very late nights with the guys.
So many days was spent getting up late and drinking and clubbing till 8 in the morning I think I will need new kidneys after this trip LOL.
We actually didn't really do that much in Salta part from drink and eat delicious steaks I had the most gorgeous steak in a Mexican sauce in a place called la monumento we can all highly recommend the restaurant.
So it was time for me to head out as I was meeting Yuvitka in the North of chilly so I needed to get a move on as she was travelling from Santiago to Calama and I had to meet her I a days time, So I headed to the bus station I couldn't get a bus to Calama till Friday which was no good to me so I thought I would go via Bolivia so a overnight bus and a taxi later I was at the border, I met a couple of Irish lads at the border so we went through together it was straight forward, Now I was in Bolivia again but I needed to get to Uyuni and cross the border into Chile, the boys was heading to Tupiza so we jumped in a taxi and of we went a couple of hours later we arrived we said our goodbyes. And of I went again needed a bus to Uyuni but just my luck no buses due to the rain so I bumped into 5 Argentina girls and they also wanted to head to uyuni as well so we hired a 4 x 4 and of we set I had now been travelling for 20 hrs and we still had 5 hrs ahead of us. We finally arrived in Uyuni I wanted to get a bus there and then to Calama but I was informed that the next one wouldn't be leaving till thurs morning 03.00am so this meant I would have to stay so I headed to the hostel with the girls and then we popped out for dinner as we was all pretty tired we didn't stay out longer.
I spent the next day chilling the girls had arranged a trip to the salt flats so I didn't see them again. Later that evening I decided I would pop to minuteman pizza for dinner there I got talking to a group of Aussie and Kiwi's they was on a 7 week tour so they all seemed to be having a laugh, I got on really well with a aussie girl called Michelle so she invited me for a drink and of I went I drank right up till it was time for me to get the bus to the border.
So I stuck my stuff on the bus and of we set the bus was crap and it got colder as we went higher there was even snow so we finally arrive at the border I got my passport stamped and then what next luckily I met this Bolivian guy who could talk good English so he explained that we would have to swap busses at the chillin border what laugh it was a free for all but we got our seats so a short ride to the Chilean side where we ended up waiting 4 hrs as customs wanted to check everyone's bags so I was getting more pissed of but what can you do. Finally we set of for Calama and guess what the bus breaks down LOl they finally fix it some hours later and I finally arrive in Calama so I went to the bus station as I now needed to get to Iquique and guess no spaces on the bus so as I really needed to get to Yuvitka I hopped in a taxi I wont say how much it cost but lets put it this way the taxi driver day was made. But it was worth it when I finally arrived and met Yuvitka again all the hours of travel were well worth it
