We've made it to the small town of Hoi An. After Lynne's birthday celebrations in Hue we were ready to chill out and take it easy so but the tourist within us took us to explore some ancient ruins in My Son. These are considered to be the most important ruins of the Cham Empire. It was interesting and positioned in the middle of the mountains but there wasn't much left after the American's bombed it. You could see massive creator's left behind from the B52 bombers and the building were either scattered over the ground or being held together by scaffolding.
The rain finally caught up with us in Hoi An so we thought it was a good excuse to go check out the tailor shops. After checking prices in a few places we just couldn't say no to a new suit - it could come in useful for an interview in Melbourne. Also we met up with some Canadian friends we made in Cat Ba so some cheap food and beers were on the cards. Hoi An didn't have much night life going on but we did manage to find some beer costing us 10p so you can't really complain at that.
The next day we went back to the tailors to try the suits on and get any final adjustments made - we were looking swanky for sure. The main area was known as the old quarter and it was exactly that with the buildings looking very old with the architecture looking slightly Japanese, Chinese and French. We did check out a small Japanese Covered bridge that was built in 1593 but looks like it could do with being build again.
Next stop is supposed to be a nice little beach spot called Nha Trang so were both looking forward to that. Sorry for the lack of pictures.
