We left Byron a couple of days ago now, time is going so fast as we cram in as much of the east coast as possible before our flight out of Cairns in a few weeks. We got up and out early for our bus to Brisbane in the beautiful Sunshine State of Queensland. We had a bit of a crazy time getting to the bus stop though as the free shuttle to the Greyhound bus stop filled up quick. It was only because the bus was delayed that we both made it! Brisbane was only a stopover for us to break up the journey to Noosa but we enjoyed walking through the south bank and along the river that evening. The southbank is a bustling area with theatres, museums and lots of cafes beside the river. There is even a man made beach by a lagoon which felt a little bizarre being surrounded by skyscrapers. On the way back to our hostel we bumped into a busker we had met in Sydney, he insisted on serenading us with some more Ed Sheeran as we had given him some money before.
The next day we headed for Noosa. We arrived mid afternoon to yet more rain so we just went to the meet and greet at the hostel. It's a small, quite upmarket surfers town beside a national park. As you can imagine most of what you can do there is outdoors so we were lucky that the sun was out for some of our full day there. We walked through the national park for a bit in the hope of seeing some koalas but then gave up and we were just about to head back to the beach when a torrential downpour started very suddenly. We tried to take cover under some rocks but we still got very wet! In the evening we were booked on to a sunset cruise which came highly recommended by the lady at the hostel because you could take your own alcohol. Unfortunately the sunset wasn't very impressive that evening as it was a little overcast but it didn't rain so we had fun sat up on top deck. We discreetly poured out our goon (cheap wine in a box, pretty much the only alcohol backpackers in Oz can afford!) as everyone else had bought posh bottles of wine and sat back admiring the beautiful houses lining the riverbank, they all had at least one boat parked outside and the places themselves were pretty impressive. The evening was spent sat outside a restaurant listening to their live music. A lovely chilled out time here in Noosa, but soooo excited for the first of the real backpacker excursions, Fraser Island!
