Day 3
Burra Gorge - Port Augusta - Streaky Bay
"I wanna be a modern day hippy - I think it's time. Pack the car, find an open road and drive...."
We hit the road just before 8 today after doing a bit of exploring around the Gorge. Lots of pretty towns on the start of our journey today with old houses made of rocks or stone.
Got stuck in Port Augusta's Saturday Morning Woolies shopathon! " Can I have all available operators to the checkouts please! " Fueled and got the hell outta there! We had lunch at Iron k*** - totally deserted - maybe they were all in Augusta?? We found a park that looked out over the "new" mountain that was made by moving all the iron. The kids hit the local gym for a workout at the park after lunch.
From there it was just driving, driving and more of it ! We made Kimba the halfway mark across Australia and celebrated with the mandatory tourist pic. Then it was onto another beautiful sunset over Streaky Bay which we will explore more in the morning before we hit the Nullarbor. The bay looked great driving in and there is lots to see!
We drove 664 kms today and saw:
1 feral cat
3 rabbits
2 male kangaroos having a stand up Barney!
4 lizards on the road - 1 alive and 3 KIA
