Outback Adventure 2019
Day 16
Alice Springs
Today we explored the Desert Park in Alice Springs.
It was great to see all the ‘local’ animal species like the Thorny Devil that we have been craving to see in the wild but have so far seen so little animal life in the Territory.
The highlights of the park (for mine) are the native bird show with eagles, kites and even a magpie as well as seeing the Thorny Devils.
We really enjoyed the talk on survival
In the desert which was given by Doug who we first met 9 years ago. He is a local Arrente tribe member who is very knowledgeable and inspirational in talking about his culture and his customs.
Leaving the desert park we managed a quick shop in Woolies and the headed back to the van.
Sunset tonight was at ANZAC hill in the middle of Alice. It has commanding views of the whole of the township.
Tonight’s dinner was another roast treat. An eye fillet of beef tonight with roasted sweet and white potato and broccoli. A fantastic way to finish the day!
Tomorrow we continue North on the Stuart Highway.
