Good Day Mate (It had to be done!!!)

We had a 9 hour flight from Bangkok to Sydney for a two hour stop off and then a further hour and a half flight to Adelaide. For the stop off we literally had to collect our cases and check in again so we needed the two hours and that was just enough time to do that in. Australia are really strict on what you can take into the country, so anything like animals, wood, food, drink etc you have to declare as you go through. From Adelaide airport we got the bus to our hostel...Shakespeares International. The roads are really wide and long. Our hostel was fine and luckily us girls were all in a dorm togther and it slept 6. There really isn't alot of room to keep your stuff and you share a bathroom and the cooking facilities with everyone. This worked out fine and luckily everyone was clean....you just have to aviod the busy time in the kitchen, usually around 7pm. You feel that you really want to cook a nice meal, but a soon as you get into the kitchen and start cooking, it's about 100 degrees, so yopu end up settling for something so simple like pasta with a sauce, quick, easy and not alot of washing up!!!

We are in Adelaide until the 5th Feb.......we are located central in the city of Adelaide and it's actually a really nice area. The streets are really clean, people are friendly, however we are in the alcohol dry zone!!! So no walking along the streets with alcohol!! We headed food shopping and the best stores for supermarket buys are Coles and Woolworthes. It is so expensive here and we had just got used to Thailand prices. We still think that our supermarkets back home are so much better, we have such a better range of food!!

So what have we been upto? Well..........

We have been to the beach a few times, it's at Glenelg which is about a half hour tram journey away. The tickets operate differently here and if you purchase a return ticket it only lasts for up to 2 hours!!!!! and not the entire day. The beach is lovely and theres lots of food shops around. It's a really young area here and no one really our age, they're all about 18-19 years old.

You can imagine with 6 girls we have been clothes SHOPPING!!! done Rundle street. The clothes here are really cool

We headed to the local park on Australia day...they have a big singer here called 'Jessica' who we saw (Not really a pop name though is it) The alcohol area was sectioned off and you wasn't aloud out of it...they are really strict here with it.

We have celebrated the first birthday of the group....Jodies 24th which was good fun

Visited Kangaroo island which was brilliant.....an entire day travelling around the third largest island off of Australia...we saw baby kangaroos (Wallabies), Kuala bears, fur seals, a bird show, which was actually really interesting. The island has a small population of around 4,000. We got the ferry across and left at 6am and returned home from the trip around 10.30pm.

Big day out festival- This was wicked!!!! We had so much fun. Saw Plan B who were brilliant and as the girls were screeming so much at the front, the band came out to us after and they met us later in the day which was cool.....and they were really nice, not what you would expect, and just normal. The festival itself was really big and we paid 75 bucks for 20 tickets, 3 tickets per drink. They served these really nice vodka slushes that we were all drinking by the end of the day. Luckily it was a tad overcast for the day as we were melting already by the time we arrived. Cheryl and Beth went to an afterparty with Plan B and his band.

We get the greyhound bus to Melbourne (10 hour overnight journey) on 5th Feb and arrive on the 6th. We are staying near the city for a few days then we move down to St Kilda.

Things to remember for Adelaide:

No Alcohol allowed!!!!

Hottest place we have been....bring factor 30!! They only sell factor 30 as well!

Save up about 100 grand to come travelling if you don't want to work...Kangarro island cost us 230 bucks!!

Pack light.....you really notice it now....just the bear essentials needed
