Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted for almost two weeks now! It seems like time is just flying by right before my eyes :)
Anyways, the other night I went on a drive with my family to Buckeye, Arizona. We went right around sunset time and it was absolutely gorgeous. On the way to Buckeye, which is about 25 minutes away from Surprise where we live, you could see the sun casting shadows of the mountains in front of a yellow, orange, and red background. It was absolutely stunning to see the beauty that can be showcased in a sunset.
The main purpose of the drive was to get out of the house and on our way to the town we went through an area of Buckeye known as Verrado. Verrado is a luxurious community located in Buckeye and reminds me a lot of an area of town in Aurora, Colorado known as Stapleton which is where I grew up as a child. The area has lots of family homes mixed into an absolutely beautiful landscape setting along the White Tank Mountains. In the center of the town is a cute street shop area which has a bank, a grocery store, a couple of restaurants, and loft style apartments right above the businesses themselves. At the end of the street there is a community park where the Verrado community comes together for community concerts and events. We were looking for an ice cream shop here, but unfortunately we had no luck in locating one.
So we decided to head closer to the town of Buckeye itself and got on Interstate 10 heading west towards Los Angeles. After one exit we stopped at a McDonalds off the highway and got some ice cream before heading back home. My siblings were starting to get tired so we were unable to go to Old Town Buckeye, but hopefully I can make it there one day and take some excellent photos! On the way back home we encountered a dust storm that was blowing through Maricopa County! These dust storms are pretty gross because they move into town fast and then leave your car coated in dust if you leave it outside. It seems as though you wash your car right after a dust storm and then a couple of days later another one blows through so you just can't keep up!
Anyways, I hope everyone on here has an excellent weekend and have fun exploring Buckeye if you decide to go! It is an absolutely gorgeous setting where the town is located and you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! Have a great weekend!
