The Clarks in the Americas
Hi
Well, here we are trim, taut and terrific (one would hope, Toby´s belt has gone in 2 notches if that is possible) after our 8 days of trekking. Was an awesome time but the bodies started to get a little weary by the end. Had unbelievable weather, after all that talk of the Patagonian wind and rain the Clark luck held and we had no wind or rain the entire time. and clear skies except for when we went up to the towers, the tops were covered. Today when we drove out tho´we got a taste of what they meant, the wind came up and was so strong at times you couldn´t see out the bus windows for dust and the bus was buffeted around, sucks to be someone hiking today. A magnificent area the scenery was spectacular. The highlight for us was the pass traverse, which was covered in snow that we had to trudge thro, but when we got to the top therte was this stupendous glacier laid out in front of us, it is enormous with many others feeding into it. Was actually an adrenalin packed day as you wilñl see when the photos go up, walking in snow, a raging river to cross, and an avalanche filled ravine to get across!!!!!!!!!! Covered over 100kms at 15-20 a day with full packs so feel for a bunch of old fossils, bar one, it was a pretty good effort. Big dinner tonight to celebrate, and then off to Argentina tomorrow as we have time and Toby has been promised a steak. There is also a very active glacier up there we will catch if possible. Six days until home so on the last stretch, am not actually sick of travelling but are all missing some aspects of life in Adelaide. See you all soon Love the Clarks- comments
