Day 23 - New Years Day
Being the first day of a brand new year we both thought we deserved lay in and didn't rise until 10.30am! We decided to spend the day in Manly and take in the tourist spots. First we headed down the front to find some breakfast. We found a small cafe tucked behind a surf shop called Fresh. We both had a 'fresh' smoothie to boost our vitamin intake and a gum shredding BLT ciabatta.
After our invigorating smoothie and sanga we spent some time on the beach enjoying the surf. We then popped to the tourist info point to get the low down on all the things we wanted to fit in whilst in Sydney. Once we'd got our bridge climb booked in, the tourist info lady recommended a small brewery, 4 Pines, across the road. A very cool, slightly pretentious joint selling very nice, but probably slightly over priced beer!
That was Clarkey's treat so we then went to the Manly Sea-life Centre for Holly's. It was small but over 3 floors we saw more marine life the anywhere else. The colours of the fish we amazing and so many different varieties.
Then came the sea turtles, sharks and rays, they were massive!! And I mean huge! Turtles the size of small cars. Rays the side of mattresses. The sharks must have been over 3m long and they were considered small ones.
Final thing we saw were the little blue penguins who did pretty much nothing. Inspired we decided on Fish and Chips for tea before heading back to crash early.
