Day 21 - No Room At The Inn
Getting pretty used to the roads and maps, we knew we didn't have anywhere near as far to go today. The plan was to drop down the coast away from Sydney to Jervis Bay before heading back up north and camping about 2hrs outside of the city.
We did the first bit with no drama but as we got closer to the city traffic started to build, no surprise really. It took longer the Clarkey had hoped to get to Huskisson, a resort on Jervis, and even this was the second choice as navigator Clarkey missed the first turning. Holly had been driving a long time by this point and even the cakes we'd picked up earlier in Goulburn seemed like a long time ago. Jervis was okay but not nearly as stunning as many of the bays and beaches we'd seen as far. To cheer Clarkey up we found somewhere to grab lunch. Fish and chips did the trick.
With the benefit of experience of the traffic ridden drive down we cut our losses at Jervis and made our way north. When we got to Kiama it was busy. We tried 3 campsites with no luck before a very nice lady squeezed us in. We had a patch of grass in the middle of a carpark, at a sports rec, not dissimilar to Holly renting us the outfield at OLSIO. We went to explore Kiama, it didn't take long. We visited the lighthouse and famous Blow Hole and spent some time risking life and limb crag hopping.
After some further investigation we found the supermarket and got some water and couscous to accompany our ham rolls, before turning in to the tune of 4x Barry Boys revving their Asbo's and then an hour later 2 camp residence choosing the spot behind Bruno to spark up and cackle away for 15 minutes.
Clarkey was kept awake further into the night as Holly played hide and seek with a rouge mozzie before it all went quiet but for the soft ebb and flow of the waves on the beach below.
