We´re in a small town in Bolivia at the mo called Potosi. Its pretty small but just as busy as everywhere else, and full of market stalls, just like everywhere else! It´s also the highest city in the whole world!
The main attraction is a silver mine though, which is where we went today. Nowadays it´s still in use, but they are mostly mining for tin and copper cos all the silver is pretty much gone by now. It was one of the most important areas for silver in its time though.
We actually saw people working down there, its so dark and cramped and damp, its mad to think that they spend up to 12 hours down there for hardly any money. Children as young as 12 work down there, and some women as well. You feel really bad just staring at them working and taking photos of them, but we took them a load of chocolate and coca leaves down so i dont think they mind too much.
In some parts you had to literally crawl along through little gaps, and every so often you hear one of those cart things coming down the tracks so you have to jump out of the way asap! It feels like you´re in an Indiana Jones movie or something! It starts to get claustrophobic after a while though, i dunno how people cope with working down there every day. My flashlight ran out as well.
There´s a chinese next to our hotel so we´re gonna go there in a min, yum....
