Clare's Travels of Oz and NZ
As we left The Grampians we managed to see some kangaroos! The last two days we have spent hugging the coastline along the Great Ocean road. Spectacular scenery and many stories of shipwrecks! Stayed in another lovely hostel last night. Saw the twelve (7 now) apostles at sunset and it was truly stunning - looks just like the piccie opposite. Also did a tree top canopy walk through the Otway forest. The environment along this part of Australia is so diverse. The trees in the forest are the tallest flowering trees in the world. We climbed 47 metres to be up top with them. Then we carreid along the coastline stopping in Apollo Bay and Torquay which is known as surf city. Outlet stores for rip curl and billabong etc got a tshirt - couldnt buy anymore as it wouldnt fit in my bag. Looked over Bells Beach and stopped to get close to Koalas in the many gum trees.
It is now 10:30pm and I am sitting in a great hostel, that Elise and I have just checked into, back in melbourne. Decided that scabby hotel bakpak could keep their cold minging bunk bed instead i have booked into somewhere cheaper(8 pounds instead of 12 (altho im obivously paying double as i had already booked) and it is so nice. We have just been for a mexican meal in the city was rather nice. Off to melbourne jail tomorrow and then neighbours tour!!! Yippee Its what ive been waiting for! lol
