We arrived back in Bangkok on Saturday morning early after a 11 hour bus journey. So Early that nothing was open yet and we had to take refuge in the 24 hour Subway shop from 4.30 until 7am. After that we went to a guesthouse recommended to us by some friends. Clean and cheap...perfect!! We had to wait another four hours for the room to come free though. At one stage the woman came over to give Darren a pillow so he could sleep on a bench in the Dining room. Anyway we settled into a nice relaxing day, slept a bit and then went for a walk up Rambutri, a road near the Khao San. We booked a trip we have been looking forward to for ages! The Floating Market, The River Kwai and the Tiger temple, especially.
We had a great day but the highlight was definately the tigers! Some of them were massive.
We're in Singapore now after a bit of a nightmare with the flights in Bangkok.
Ok, where do I start? We were on the net booking things for Australia and thought we should check that our flight was ok for tomorrow. We had already called them a couple of weeks ago and they assured us that the flight would be ok. Well, we rang the Australian office as couldnt get through to Bangkok. Our flight has been cancelled for the morning and they didnt have another flight to put us on, they didnt even seem to be bothered. They will refund our money but it will take 3 months to come to us!!!!!
So we had to frantically find another flight to get us there tomorrow, we've already paid for accomodation in singapore and cant miss flight to Sydney. Tried doing on the net but every card we tried wouldnt work, we knew the cards were fine it was a network problem. We had to go to an agency who would be able to do it for us, we hoped. Her card was declined aswell, she rang the airline and they said there was a technical problem, she tried another airline who also had a technical problem. she rang them at about 6pm and they said it could take until 9pm for the problem to be fixed. she wanted us to hand her over 200 pounds without any confirmation that the flights were booked. I cried and we obviously refused to give her the money so we had to wait until the confirmation came through and she had to keep the shop open late (closed at 7). Her english husband arrived at 7 to take her home and wasnt happy at all that she was staying to help us. He told her to cancel it and we could go somewhere else, no compassion at all!!!!
Anyway, at about 7.45 the confirmation came through and we were saved. Not happy however that we had to fork out over 200 pounds on flights!
But its over now and well still get to Singapore on time for our flights to Sydney, just a little poorer with a few more grey hairs!!
Cant wait for Sydney now and the 7.5 hour flight on lovely Singapore Airlines to get there. Its so good!
