Journey to Singapore

Our Singapore experience unfortunately was cut short due to a misunderstanding of travel plans. Or the travel company chose not to tell us?! Not quite sure.
We were meant to get a 4 hour mini bus and then change onto a sleeper bus and arrive in Singapore on the 11th at 1pm. Instead our muni bus journey was 8 hours long where we got dumped at 9pm in Hatyai bus station which was closed. We had missed our bus. Tensions were a little high as we were unsure where we were and what to do but atleast we were in the right direction to Singapore. We ended up getting an (expensive) Tuk Tuk to a GuesthouseCathay, which was mentioned in our Lonely Planet book. We arrived at Cathay where rooms were advertised for 250 baht (£5) for a 3 bed room. This was an absolute bargain but as we walked into reception we instantly knew why. Once we were handed the key we all took a deep breath & braced ourselves and opened the door. The room and the beds were identical to the rooms we witnessed in the torture prison in Cambodia. And to top it off we had a hole in the ground as a toilet and a neighbour who wad banging non-stop on their door. We were horrified but were actually crying with laughter.
We woke early the next morning and went to the bus station to be told our bus doesn't come to the station so had to travel to tour company. We had to wait 4 hours until the bus came but when it did it felt like real luxury. A very comfy bus! We only got to see Singapore airport but what we saw from the bus seemed lovely! I will return there one day!
