So..... We missed the King. He was no where to be seen.
From Phomn Penh we got an 8 hour bus journey to Siem Reap. Becky greeted us at the bus station where she waited for aggeeess with the TukTuk driver. She said 'it was like an awkward bi lingual first date'
We went straight out for dinner and were reunited with my Sheffield boys, Jo and Ricky. It's like we had never been apart. No changes apart from a bit more facial hair. We were back on the bucket drinks and had an amazing night in AngkorWat and Temple Bar. Becky came back to ours for a Slumber party. We watched the sunrise on the guesthouse balcony which was where Becky passed out for the night.
After 3 hours sleep we got up and wandered into town. Later that evening the 6 of us treated ourselves to an AMAZING Indian meal.
After an early-ish night we got up at 4.30 to go to Angkor Wat temple to watch the sunrise. We stood by the lake with the reflection of the temple in the water. It was Absolutely beautiful. Spent half the day climbing the temples and Tombs pretending we were Lara croft (Tomb raider filmed there)
Once we had done the cultural stuff we did what us girls do best... Lounge by a swimming pool. We found a hotel with a gorgeous pool with very well to do people. Unfortunately the hotel spotted us as travellers and charged us to use the pool. We were overly excited by the clean water and bathed and splashed about like we had never seen a pool before. We fell to sleep on the comfiest loungers and woke up when it was getting dark. At this very moment we realised we have become true travellers.
Later that evening we sadly had our last night out with our Sheffield Chums and had some pre birthday drinks for Jo, ate a Mexican and played pool on a rooftop bar.
We were really sad to be leaving Cambodia as it really is the most wonderful place we have ever visited. The poverty is so sad but the locals happy nature and the beauty of the country just makes the place so special. Loved every minute.
