Claire's Travels
Hello Everyone!
Well we have arrived in Peru - hoorah! Ourr journey was eventful as ever! Taxi drivers are notoriously fast drivers in Argentina but we seem to have got mr slow coach for our journey to the airport. When we finally arrived (at least 20 mins after a normal driver!) the guy managed to drop us off at the wrong terminal so we had to trek (fairly quickly) to the correct one. Then our check-in guy seemed in struggle with our tickets (or just generally with life so it seeemed!!) and so that took ages. Oh yes I forgot to mention that we were sent to the wrong check-in desk several times. We finally got sorted and were looking forward to browsing through duty free...except we still had to pay airport tax (us $55!! to leave the country!)
and go through customs and immigration - joy. Finally we got through....only to find that duty free area consisted of one resturant (if you can call it that) a very small shop that sold a few perfumes and a tango shop. Great stuff eh?! We just settled on some Milka chocolate (soooo good) and got on the plane.
We landed in this glorious country at around 1am this morning and headed straight for the hostel.
When we got there, this rather loud american approached us and asked if we were going out. We explained that we had just arrived and were nackered and he said that for the first 3 nights here, he hadnt gone to bed. I think he expected us to be pretty impressed....bless.
We were delighted to see that we had the room to ourselves and they were real beds not bunkbeds (seriously it's the little things that count!). The hostel itself seems good - there is a bar and a nice garden. We are only going to be staying for a couple of days as we join our tour on the 21st.
We are currently in Miraflores the "heaven and refuge of Lovers and Wanderers" according to the guide book we were kindly given. Doesnt it sound delightful?! It is actually very nice. It's situated on the Pacific Coast and its beautifully manicured. Lots to see and do...so on that note I'm off to explore! x x
