So the nine hour flight from Bangkok went suprisingly quickly. My entertainment system on the plane didn't work so I thought it was going to be a long one, but we didn't even sleep and it went quick. When we got off the plane at 6.30am it was already 21 degrees :)
We went through passport control (and got another stamp in the old passport which we were all strangely excited about) and claimed our bags. The xray machines were next to check our bags so Steph and I went through no problem. When Loz's big backpack came out however they thought she was trying to smuggle food in so they searched it. Great start to Sydney we thought (although Steph and I found it highly amusing).
She eventually got the all clear, and we went through to meet Dale (Ranger to all you camp people). He then was going to drive us to his house in Gosford (about an hour and half North of Sydney). He decided to take the scenic route so we would be able to go over the harbour bridge however he kept getting extremely lost in the process. Found it in the end though and we caught a glimpse of the Opera House as we drove over.
Whenw e got to his house we dumped our bags and had some breakfast and a quick shower to freshen up. Then headed out on the road to explore a little (us three were quite quiet though due to no sleep in about 24 hours). He took us to Warrah Lookout where although we had to walk 500 metres in the now 31 degree heat, it was worth it as the views were amazing. You could see Palm Beach (where Home and Away is filmed apparantly) Patonga, Hawksbury River and the Baronjoey Lighthouse. It really was beautiful so we took a photo opportunity.
Next he drove us to Marie Byles Lookout which is the scenic highway above Killcare beach and as it was a pretty clear day you could see Manly beach and teh start of the centre of Sydney in the far distance. Again, photo opportunity as it was so picturesque.
We then wenbt for a milkshake on Cococabana EBach in a little cafe and then walked along the white sand beach. The water was really cold though so we only put our feet in and watched as people tried to bodyboard and surf. Mine and Loz's lessosn were to begin tomorrow (Sunday).
We then went to buy some food for our tea and watched a dvd as our eyes were struggling to stay open and our bodies had no energy (round about 36 hours no sleep now) so at 9pm we were fast asleep in bed. :)
Saturday we were going to be going to the beach to learn to surf, however it was raining pretty bad and had expected storms so we slept in a little longer and then decided to hit Reptile Land. This was cool, and the guy presenting all the shows was hilarious. Saw kangaroos, Taz Devils, Koalas, Snakes, Crocs, etc etc... Was pretty cool to be honest. Then we went shopping in the centre and headed home for Rangers house party he was having. The party was really good and met loads of nice people, but it didn't finish til about 5am ooops.
Today (Sunday) is glorious weather - clear blue skies so all the boys from the party have gone surfing, leaving us girls to relax a little. Its going to be a chilled out day before heading to Dales aunties house in teh centr eof Sydney either tonight or tomorrow. Got a suprise for you all which is happening later on today but you will have to wait and see next time I update ;)
So... So far so good :) Loving australia... Its much more Americanised than we expected but its better :)
Will update in teh New Year. Happy Christmas everybody (can't believe it is two days away in this heat?!?!
