Claire and Richard's Travels
After a prompt start we bought CN Tower tickets in preparation for a busy day ahead. We explored more of the Financial Distrcit taking in sites such as the law courts, City Hall, the mural of nails ("there's 500,000 and if you don't believe me you can count them yourself" said the charming man with no teeth we bumped into! After much searching we found the Canadian Walk of Fame, although it was more like a stroll and the best one had been covered with building works. Having realised that Donald Sutherland was Canadian, we made our way to the CN Tower.
After the security checks and getting trampled on by other tourists, we travelled the 345 metres up the hexagonal shaft to experience fantastic, albeit slightly hazy, panoramic views of Canada's largest city. After this we took a leisurely stroll along the Harbour front for a spot of lunch and were shown to our table by none other than Mama Lu, the strongest woman in the world!
After lunch we carried on along the Harbour and, unable to rent a canoe due to a lack of experience (!?!) we took the ferry across to Toronto Island. Encouraged to walk on the grass by the Toronto Parks and Forestry Commission, we wandered through 'Far Away Farm' and 'Centreville', the islands very own theme park. Unable to rent a boat due to a lack of photographic identification, we wrestled with the idea of the idea of visiting the 'clothing optional' beach as we had no costumes or towels, but opted for a paddle on the main beach instead.
After wandering aimlessly for ages looking for the 'Rope Challenge Course' and finding ourselves in a restricted area, we headed back the way we came and enjoyed a delicious BBQ before making our way back to our hostel to rest our aching feet.
When the sun began to set we strolled back to CN Tower to see Toronto after dark and watched the Canada Day fireworks.
After an exhausting day we rode the 'Rocket' (tram) back to the hostel and were asleep in no time at all.
